White Bluffs Quilt Museum gratefully accepts quilts that are gifted to the museum.
Please fill out this form to add a quilt or an item
to the White Bluffs Quilt Museum (WBQM).
Or visit the museum during open hours.
Donation of Quilts
Donated items may include quilts, quilt tops, and blocks. A deed of gift is required for all donated quilts. A copy of the deed of gift form is available here. Unfortunately, the Museum cannot add all gifted quilts to the museum’s collection. The following criteria are used by the Preservation Committee when evaluating a quilt:
Provenance
Clarity of the provenance / history
Quilts related to the Pacific Northwest
Aesthetics
Overall beauty of the quilt
Unusualness of the pattern, fabric, and quilting used
Artistry of the combined elements
Technical skill of piecer and/or quilter
Condition
Physical condition of the quilt
Conservation work required to preserve and stabilize the quilt
General Considerations - in addition to the guidelines previously stated, there may be other reasons considered prior to accepting a quilt of the museum’s collection. These include the following:
Redundancy to items already in the museum’s collection
The museum’s ability to provide for the storage, protection, and preservation of the quilt
The Board determines the disposition of quilts not added to the museum collection. Quilts that are not added to the museum’s collection are typically sold to benefit the museum or gifted to another museum.
